Tata Power and local colleges join hands to leverage Government Scholarship Schemes in Mumbai, Maharashtra

Mumbai: With an aim to support higher education amongst India’s youths, Tata Power leveraged Government of India’s – National Scholarship Portal and awarded scholarship to over 700 students (90% SC/ST+ minority and 80% girls) The activity was held under the company’s Financial Inclusion CSR program titled – ‘Adhikaar’.

The Tata Power CSR team collaborated with Acharya College and Dr. Ambedkar College of Chembur where maximum number of youth from Chembur (Trombay) had enrolled in various courses. As part of this activity, the Income Certificates to students were issued through Maha E Seva Kendra under Financial Inclusivity programme at INR 47.00 (Government fee) within 15 days. Additionally, it also benefitted each student with a scholarship worth INR 5,000/- per year and access to government library at no additional cost.

Tata Power’s team has helped to improve the lives of these students whose economic conditions are not conducive for sustaining higher studies.

The certificates were distributed to students by Mr. Thorat (Tehsildar – Kurla/ Wadala / Mulund Region) at a Certificate Distribution Ceremony along with the Trombay CSR team.

National Scholarships Portal is a one-stop solution through which various services starting from student application, application receipt, processing, sanction and disbursal of various scholarships to students are enabled.
