Teachers, students mourn the sad demise of former professor
ALIGARH : The faculty members, students and staff at the Department of History mourned the sad demise of former teacher, Prof Fatima Zehra Bilgirami, who passed away in the morning of April 29 at her house in Aligarh.
Addressing a condolence meeting, the Chairman of the Department, Prof Hasan Imam said that Prof Bilgirami, born 1952, had obtained a PG and PhD degree from the AMU and served the University as a teacher for over four decades until her retirement in 2017 from the Women’s College.
She had several significant publications to her credit and regularly participated in the annual conferences of the Indian History Congress. Many of the present generation teachers in the Department of History have been her students, and they remembered her for her amicable behaviour, dedication to teaching and love and care for students
Prof Imam said that in her death, the Department of History has lost a learned scholar and beloved teacher. “We offer our heartfelt condolence to the members of the bereaved family”, he said.
