TEDx Hyderabad concludes its 4th successive edition

Hyderabad, 16th September 2018: TEDxHyderabad on Sunday concluded its 4th and most successful edition at JRC Conventions & Trade Fairs, Hyderabad. Featuring 15 inspirational speakers from varying walks of life, ranging from entertainment, sports, arts and entrepreneurship to defence; the event was also widely followed online and on social media sites.

Established with the single minded mission to build a community of Thinkers, Enablers and Doers within Hyderabad, TedXHyderabad aims to achieve a broader social impact and build the impetus for greater and wider civic involvement and mindfulness. TedxHyderabad is organised by Society for Advancement of Human Endeavour (SAHE) a not for profit group that works towards civic engagement and empowerment. “We are extremely proud of the work that we are doing with TEDxHyderabad, using the ideas that are shared on this stage to bring about social impact. This year we mobilized over Rupees 1 Crore for our associate NGOs towards several high-impact social initiatives aimed at empowerment of marginalised communities & sustainability amongst other issues. TEDxHyderabad is a platform that builds, not only the intellectual wealth of our city, but also enriches its spirit and inspires positive change and social consciousness. We are happy to have this opportunity of being catalysts in this social revolution.” Said Viiveck Verma, Curator of TEDxHyderabad on the conclusion of the event.

The SAHE team also organizes TEDxHyderabadLive – a live streaming of talks as they happen; TEDxHyderabadWomen – an interactive session with live talks from the main TEDWomen event; TEDxHyderabad – a flagship speaker event and TEDxYouth@Hyderabad targeted at a younger teen audience. SAHE has been involved in various community projects in the city and recently ran programs to rejuvenate 10K borewells and revive several dying lakes, in a bid to counter the city’s growing water crisis.

Dr Anthony Vipin Das, co-organizer of TEDxHyderabad, said “TEDxHyderabad 2018 was a true embodiment of ‘ReThink’- urging us to overhaul almost every dimension of the event- even the attendees. This year we ensured that people from marginalised sections of society, who would otherwise not have the opportunity of attending such an event, were given the chance to do so. We had transgenders, people with visual and other impairments and those from financially weaker sections, who were given free access to our event this year. Additionally, 200 Public Service officers who are undergoing their foundation program, were also invited, in an effort to help those entering the service of our country, to rethink the status quo.”

TEDxHyderabad 2018 also hosted Experience and Entertainment zones enabling attendees to network and interact socially in a lighter ambience. The experience zone featured the technology innovations from Palle Srujana a grassroots organization that works in remote villages. It also showcased Organic Farming practices from Sahaja Aharam apart from the work done by SAHE.
