Telugu States Winners of SIP Arithmetic Genius, All India Online Contest 2020

Hyderabad: Karri Kranthi Manaswi of Niraj Public School, Begunpet; T. Aasritha of Dev Public School, Safilguda and Sarayu Erukulla of Phoenix Greens International School, Kokapet emerged as State Champions of two Telugu States, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in a SIP Arithmetic Genius, All India Online Contest 2020 held in various stages from October 2020 to January 2021. These winners are announced in a virtual prize distribution program organised today.

Together with the top three state champions, the following second and third toppers in each class-2nd,3rd and 4th have also been qualified to represent both Telugu States at the National Contest to be held on February 21st online. Satya Hasini – Bharathi Vidhya Bhavan, Tirupati; Mandala Nutan Bhargav – AMRITA VIDYALAYAM, Mahendra hills,Secunderabad; K. Akshitha – The secunderabad public school, Malkajgiri

These winners got selected from a rigorous four month long three stage selection process. 5000 students competed from which 1000 students were shortlisted. From these 10000 students, the above 9 students got selected to represent both the Telugu states at National Level.

SIP Arithmetic Genius, All India Online Contest 2020 was organized by SIP Academy across the country. A total of 27000 students competed across India for this competition. The 9 winners from each state will compete at the Nationals. More than 100 students will vie for the national honours at the 5th Season of SIP Arithmetic Genius, All India Online Contest 2020. The earlier four editions were conducted physically. This was the first time an online competition was organised

Mrs. Jayanthi Venkatraman, Principal of Sister Nivedita School was the Chief Guest at the Awards function. Since it was the virtual function, the Cash Prize and Trophies will be delivered to the winners through their respective schools. The top three winners of the state will get Rs 5,000/-, 7,000/ and 10,000/- cash prize and trophy.

Addressing the 200 plus virtual gathering of students, parents, teachers, Mrs. Jayanthi asked kids to take inspiration from Bhanuprakash, the fastest human calculator in the world who is the alumnus of SIP Academy from Hyderabad. Bhanuprakash replaced great mathematician Shakunthala Devi. And now you aim to replace Bhanuprakash, she said. Inspiration moves pessimism to optimism, despair to hope and darkness to light.

The objective of this year’s online contest was to engage home struck students more meaningfully and help them improve arithmetic skills, Arithmetic skills, Uma Swaminathan, Regional Head of SIP Academy said, according to the National Educational Policy announced by the Government of India is by 2025, every student in Grade 5 and beyond must achieve foundational literacy and numeracy.
