Ten days cleanliness drive

 

Aligarh : In a massive 10-days cleanliness drive of the University Health Office, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission); doctors, other health staff and volunteers participated and cleaned all university buildings including the Maulana Azad Library, residential hostels, offices and departments.

“Through this cleanliness drive in the first ten days of October, we aim to make people aware of the importance and methods of handling waste responsibly and try to take a step towards a cleaner environment. It is imperative to understand that a whole lot of diseases can be traced back to unhygienic environments and irresponsible waste disposal”, said Dr Ali Jafar Abedi (University Health Officer).

He added that the cleanliness drive will also include anti-larval measures such as drainage of stagnant infested water, filling unwanted water collection area and destruction or alteration of containers – breeding places of vectors among others.
