Texas A&M Partners with Dallas International Film Festival for Premiere of ESPN ’30 for 30′ Documentary on Dude Perfect
The Dallas International Film Festival (DIFF), with support from Texas A&M University, will present the world premiere of ESPN Films’ “30 for 30” documentary “Dude Perfect: A Very Long Shot” at the historic Majestic Theatre on April 25.
Dude Perfect is a five-man sports and comedy group whose members launched their entertainment careers while students at Texas A&M. Their astonishing trick shots have led to a following of more than 60 million subscribers on YouTube and a stable of wildly popular videos that have racked up billions of views.
All five members earned their undergraduate degrees from A&M: Cory and Coby Cotton, Garrett Hilbert and Cody Jones, all Class of 2010, and Tyler Toney, Class of 2011.
“What started in Aggieland 15 years ago with five dudes, a video camera and a backyard basketball hoop has grown into a worldwide sensation with their fun and family-friendly videos,” said Gen. (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III, president of Texas A&M University. “When I see what these former students have achieved, I see not only great Aggies, but outstanding citizens who give back to their community and spread joy to their viewers. We congratulate Tyler, Garrett, Cody, Coby and Cory on their incredible success and thank them for representing our university so well.”
Red Carpet Event
Texas A&M is sponsoring opening night of DIFF 2024, which runs April 25-May 2 in Dallas’ West Village District. The 18th annual festival will screen nearly 150 narrative and documentary features and short films from around the world.
“DIFF is thrilled to have ESPN ’30 for 30′ debuting its film documentary about Dude Perfect with us at our annual film festival this year,” said Beth Wilbins, CEO of DIFF. “Another reason for it being special is that Texas A&M University is joining us in hosting and celebrating ‘the Dudes’ as our opening night sponsor. Texas A&M’s support allows us to deliver the magic of film to Dallas-Fort Worth and beyond — right in line with the mission of Dallas Film Society.”
The opening night event will feature appearances by Dude Perfect, the Texas A&M Yell Leaders, school mascot Reveille X and ESPN commentator and Texas A&M graduate Fernando Palomo. In addition to the world premiere screening of the documentary, there will be a red carpet and an on-stage conversation with Dude Perfect.
