Thapar University 2nd Runner up in Smart Hackathon 2017
Mumbai: Six students from Thapar University, Patiala were declared second runner up in ‘Smart India Hackathon 2017′ in Jaipur. ‘Smart India Hackathon 2017’ is a pan India 36 hour marathon nonstop digital programming competition. The participating teams concurrently competed across 33 locations in India to offer digital yet sustainable innovative solutions for real time challenges. 29 different government ministries and departments came together and posed 598 problem statements to students participating in this initiative. With 7531 idea solutions received from 2100+ technical institutions in India, it was a mammoth event.
Creatif Pixel, the team from Thapar University, participated in a tough challenge “Startup India mobile app” by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (Ministry of Commerce and Industry, GoI and Ministry of Post). The team proposed a solution through a mobile app named “Startup India V2.0”. The mobile app has the ability to integrate numerous domains of start-up ecosystem with the capability to provide a simple, one-stop solution for important and relevant information to Startup India, all accessable on a single platform. After a rigorous evaluation, the Creatif Pixel team was declared 2nd runner up and awarded Rs.50, 000 cash prize.
The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) under aegis of MHRD, NIC and MyGovhad launched ‘Smart India Hackathon 2017’. Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister of HRD, and Chief Patron inaugurated Smart India Hackathon 2017.
Six students from Thapar University’s Computer Science & Engineering were led by Tanay Khanna. Team members included with Satvik Gupta, PragyaDhir, Anubhav Gupta, Anshika Singh and Taniya Saini. Faculty Dr. MD Singh, Ms. Anika, Dr. Karminder, Mr. Karun Verma and Dr. Maninder Singh mentored the winning team.
Dr. Prakash Gopalan, Director of Thapar University, commended the team members on their success and for participating in a national cause. “You have made us proud” and reiterated the university’s full support as well as an excellent conducive eco system to accelerate techno-entrepreneurial.
