The Central University of Punjab extends a warm welcome to the Yuva Sangam Jharkhand Contingent for an exposure visit to Punjab

· Youngsters from Jharkhand received a heartfelt welcome upon their arrival at CU Punjab for a six-day exposure visit to Punjab.

· On the first day of the tour, Jharkhand students visited the historical Qila Mubarak and Bathinda city.

Bathinda : As part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, 51 students from Jharkhand and faculty members from IIM Ranchi came to visit Punjab under the ‘Yuva Sangam – Student Exchange Programme’. The youth from Jharkhand were warmly welcomed upon arriving at the Central University of Punjab, which has been designated as the nodal institute from Punjab responsible for managing the Jharkhand Contingent Visit to Punjab. This group of Jharkhand youth will explore different cities of Punjab during their Yuva Sangam-Exposure Tour scheduled from March 9 to March 14, 2024.

The Jharkhand youth arrived at the Punjab Central University campus located in Ghudda village, Bathinda district, on Saturday morning after a 36-hour journey. During the welcome ceremony, they were greeted with Punjabi Dhol Beats by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari and the entire university fraternity.

Welcoming the youth of Jharkhand to Punjab, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra Prasad Tiwari briefed them about the history of Sikh culture and the Dasam Guru Parampara, which has guided individuals towards the highest pedestal of humanity. He emphasized that Yuva Sangam is an innovative initiative by the Ministry of Education to foster a deeper understanding of India’s diversity among the youth. The tour aims to forge a closer bond between Punjab and the youth of Jharkhand by acquainting them with the rich heritage, customs, and traditions of the state. Prof. Tiwari expressed hope that such visits would promote cultural exchange, deepen understanding among youth about India’s diversity, and strengthen mutual ties.

Dr. Prashant Maurya, faculty from IIM Ranchi, mentioned that all the youngsters in the Jharkhand Contingent were visiting Punjab for the first time and were very excited. This tour offers the youth of Jharkhand an opportunity to familiarize themselves with Punjab’s cultural and social values.

The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Sanjeev Thakur, Nodal Officer, Yuva Sangam, who provided details of the programme and shared the itinerary of the Yuva Sangam Exposure Trip. This scheme of Yuva Sangam is being organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in collaboration with various Ministries and Departments like Culture, Tourism, Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports, Home Affairs. The exposure visit of Jharkhand Youth to Punjab will encompass five broad areas: Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect), and Prodyogik (Technology).

On the first day of their six-day tour, students from Jharkhand visited the historic Qila Mubarak and various markets of Bathinda. Over the next five days, they will travel to different cities of Punjab, including Firozpur, Patiala, Chandigarh, and Amritsar.
