The Eco Club, Aligarh Muslim University starts ‘Green Planet Films’ programme

Aligarh: The Eco Club, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) started the two-day ‘Green Planet Films’ programme to screen powerful environmental feature films and documentaries aimed at informing, enlightening and encouraging students for making efforts towards saving the planet from environmental gloom.

‘The Core’, a movie about violent storms tearing through cities with intense microwaves heating up earth and ‘Into the Storm’, a film in which the protagonist films a tornado heading towards a school were screened on the first day after the programme was inaugurated by AMU Proctor, Prof Afifullah Khan and Public Relations Officer, Mr Omar S Peerzada.

Addressing at the inaugural function, Prof Afifullah Khan said that the idea of screening these films is to urge us all to think of the important links between dramatic climate change and human actions.

He added that AMU has been creating awareness related to environmental protection through various programmes and will continue to do so.

Dr Ragib Gauhar (President of the Eco Club) also spoke on the occasion.

Nida Akram (Student Organizer of the programme) emphasised that the youth are the focal audience of this programme aimed to bring environment awareness through the engaging visual medium of films.

Najmus Saqib, (Former Secretary, Eco Club), Furkan Ahmed (Senior Member), Abul Hashim Tapadar, Mojiz, Ahmar, Ali, Salman and Maharaj Das helped organising the programme.
