The Enactus KU Team to compete in the Enactus World Cup 2023, representing South Korea
The Enactus KU Team emerged victorious in the 2023 national competition, securing their qualification for the upcoming Enactus World Cup to take place in the Netherlands this October.
The KU team clinched their victory with their “Neruing” program, a 1:1 tutoring service tailored to children with learning difficulties.
The Enactus World Cup will gather participants from 36 countries, with the presence of leaders from multinational corporations, who will serve as judges and mentors during the event.
The Enactus KU team (hereinafter referred to as the “KU team”) achieved victory in the 2023 Enactus National Competition (NC).
Enactus, which stands for Entrepreneurial, Action, and Us, forms a worldwide university alliance comprising over 1,700 universities and esteemed companies across over 36 countries. Enactus students undertake business projects to cultivate constructive changes, developing themselves into ethical business leaders with a sense of social responsibility.
The Enactus NC serves as a platform to choose each nation’s representative for the World Cup. In South Korea, this competition takes place during the summer and is sponsored by over 10 companies, primarily led by Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance. This year’s event, held on July 14 and 15 at KU’s Inchon Memorial Hall, welcomed 18 teams from 28 Korean universities, including Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Sungkyunkwan University, Chung-Ang University, and Korea University. Over the course of two days, the competing teams were engaged in league matches, including qualifications, semi-finals, and finals. These intense rounds culminated in the selection of the ultimate winner, who would proceed to represent South Korea in the Enactus World Cup.
The KU team secured their victory with their 1:1 tutoring service named “Neruing,” designed for children grappling with learning difficulties. The team garnered commendable scores for their clear identification of the issue of inadequate support for slow learners in our society—a population often overlooked. In addition, they devised practical solutions relevant to the needs of the intended beneficiaries.
For the KU team, the Enactus World Cup signifies a journey into uncharted territories. Set to take place from October 17 to 20 in Utrecht, the Netherlands, the 2023 Enactus World Cup will convene triumphant teams from 36 different countries. The Enactus proudly boasts a membership of 600,000 individuals thus far, thereby enlisting leaders from multinational corporations to serve as judges and mentors for the event. Representing South Korea, the KU team will ardently compete on this international stage, embracing and sharing the core values championed by Enactus.
Kim Ji-san (Department of Chinese Language and Literature, entry class of 2018), the leader of the KU team and president of KU Enactus for the 1st semester of 2023, stated, “The World Cup holds a significance that transcends our participation as contenders for the championship. I firmly believe that we will not only showcase our team’s progress but also mature as ‘Enactors’ by delving into the business stories of Enactus teams from other countries.” He added, “The opportunity to partake in the World Cup alongside my teammates is truly invaluable, and I am eagerly anticipating the incredible journey ahead.”
Meanwhile, since its inception in 2007, the KU team has been active in spearheading additional initiatives. These include the “Knowhow” program, which effectively tackles environmental and elderly employment concerns through the upcycling of socks, and “Orae”, a venture with the goal of raising social awareness and offering economic assistance to recipients of national merit by developing outdoor escape room games.
