The ensemble of folk music of PetrSU “Toiva” was awarded a diploma of a laureate of the prestigious Russian national prize

“Toive” in 2020 became the Laureate of the prestigious Russian national award “Student of the Year – 2020” in the nomination “Patriotic Association of the Year” among educational institutions of higher education.

As a reminder, the Russian national award “Student of the Year – 2020” was held from 2 to 6 December in a distance format.
69 laureates from 35 regions of Russia were announced. Among them is the ensemble of folk music and dances “Toive” .

The team won in the category “Patriotic Association of the Year” among educational institutions of higher education.

More than 15 thousand people took part in the regional stages of the competition, which is held by the Russian Youth Union in conjunction with the presidential platform “Russia – the country of opportunities”. 600 university students and 400 secondary school students from 65 regions reached the final.

For almost 40 years the ensemble “Toive” has been bringing together young people who preserve the musical traditions of the Karelians, Vepsians and Finns. During this time, 6 generations have already changed with the team. Its participants not only perform talentedly traditional folk songs and dances, they do a lot of research work: they go on expeditions to the Karelian outback, collect material and then introduce it into their repertoire.
