The talk will be hosted by HKUST admission consultants to talk about the University’s latest programs and admission requirements, internship opportunities, career support and prospect in HKUST and Hong Kong. In 2021, the average salary of Indian graduates at HKUST is INR 3,43,000 per month. Below India-origin students of HKUST will also join the talk virtually to share their university life and study experience.

HKUST has always been a pioneer in innovative education and launched novel programs that meet latest societal needs.  Among them are the two undergraduate degree programs – “Science with an extended Major in Artificial Intelligence” and “Engineering with an extended Major in Artificial Intelligence”. To help students better integrate new knowledge into existing disciplines and systems, students in this program will have to study a traditional science or engineering major, while undertaking an extended major which now only covers AI, but will be expanded to other emerging hot topics such as data science, FinTech and digital media and arts in the near future.

With the opening of HKUST’s new campus in Nansha, Guangzhou, students of HKUST and HKUST(GZ) can take courses offered by both campuses, with credits mutually recognized and automatically transferable.  Meanwhile, HKUST(GZ) offers 15 MPhil/PhD degrees in areas including Sustainable Energy and Environment, Artificial Intelligence, and Computational Media and Arts, among other pioneering programs.

With the help of the University’s Career Centre, 86% of our students acquired internship experience prior to graduation. All non-local graduates are allowed a 12-month unconditional extension to stay in Hong Kong. In 2021, the average salary of Indian graduates is HK IND3,43,000 per month and employers include UBS, AXA, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, IBM, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Macquarie group. HKUST graduates were ranked 23rd worldwide and among the best from universities from Asia in Global University Employability Survey 2021.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation

HKUST is dedicated to encouraging entrepreneurship, technological innovation and knowledge transfer. In 2020-2021, HKUST reported 176 inventions, filed 332 new patent applications and was granted 205 new patents. In the university’s 30-year history, over 1,600 startup companies have been founded by HKUST students, faculty and alumni, offering solutions to fight the pandemic, improve health and smarter and more sustainable living style, among other causes – many of which are either founded or co-founded by Indian students, such as Breer and Planeteers.  The former turns bread waste to beer and the latter creates vegan and biodegradable edible cutlery.

 

Eligibility Criteria for the courses: 

Students from any scholastic background who wish to apply for HKUST must meet the General Admission, School/Program-Specific, and English Language criteria. HKUST evaluate applications holistically, considering both academic and extracurricular achievements. For students taking Indian Boards examinations, the prerequisite is “Pass Certificates received on completion of Standard XII (State and National boards)”, while the reference score of previous students admitted to HKUST is “Overall average of 85 percent or higher.”

Tuition Fee and Scholarship Criteria at HKUST for Students from India:

The tuition charges for each academic year is HKD 140,000 (approx. INR 14,25,000). Academic scholarships are awarded to outstanding students based on competitive merit. These prizes may be one-time or renewable and may include full or partial tuition waivers.

The maximum scholarship amount is equivalent to the full tuition fee and an allowance of HKD 55,000 (approx. INR 5,60,000) every academic year – renewable for the normal term of study subject to adequate educational excellence.
