The Hyderabad Public School kickstarts its year-long “100 Year Celebrations”, with India’s largest Educational Science Festival

Hyderabad : The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, one of the leading education systems in the country, is kickstarting its year-long Centenary Celebrations with its first set of activities between 20th and 27th of January 2023 this year. The unique events begin with a three-day India Science Festival (ISF) on 20th to 22nd January, 2023, followed by a performance by Symphony Orchestra of India on the 22nd of January 2023 and the Round Square Conference between 22nd & 27th of January, 2023.

 

The ISF will be inaugurated by Chief Guests Shri K. T. Rama Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Industries & Commerce and Information Technology of Telangana; and Shri Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary of Industries & Commerce and Information Technology Departments of the Government of Telangana.

I hope this event benefits the participants & audience in terms of exposure, collaboration, networking, confidence and communication skills. During this last century, the School has rendered invaluable service to society through value-based and pragmatic education, to several generations of students, from all strata of life. We hope to take forward the legacy for the next century.”

The Indian Science Festival: The central theme of the ISF is ‘Future is Now’. Speakers of international repute from institutions, companies and organizations such as the Stanford University, Microsoft, IBM, The European Space Agency, AIIMS and Ashoka University, who have made outstanding contribution in the field of science, technology, medicine and education, will be present at the event. This is besides fireside chats, panel discussions, immersive workshops, interactive demos, film screenings, exhibits, including a brain- controlled helicopter, driverless cars and a humanoid robot. The celebrations will also be marked by competitions, games and cultural activities besides sumptuous food. The hundredth year celebrations of HPS, being called ‘Scientury’, will also showcase a series of experiments including hydroponics, working model on elimination of marine debris, triboelectric effect and automated irrigation system.

The three-day Science Festival between the 20th & 22nd of January, 2023 is being conducted in association with the Telangana State Innovation Cell and organized by FAST India. Popular science talks, Interdisciplinary panel discussions, interactive installations, hands-on workshops, policy roundtables, book launches, film screenings and performances are the hallmarks of the science segment. Ph.D. program booth for college students, a photo exhibition of the campus designed by the staff and biodiversity trails are also slated as part of the event. It is expected that over 10,000 relevant people from across the city including students, science enthusiasts & parents would attend this event.

 

A thematic science-based Bharatnatyam dance by Dr. Mallika Sarabhai and her troupe, “Darpana”, is yet another highlight of the event as part of the inaugural function on 20th January, 2023, apart from a live band, MAAHAA Project at the finale on 22nd of January, 2023.

 

Symphony Orchestra of India: The second segment of the January events is a scintillating performance by India’s only professional orchestra, “Symphony Orchestra of India” from the National Center for Performing Arts, Mumbai at the newly-built Open Air Theatre on 22nd of January, 2023. The Symphony Orchestra of India was founded in 2006 by NCPA Chairman Khushroo N. Suntook and internationally-renowned violin virtuoso Mikel Toms who serves as the Orchestra’s Music Director. This event is open to invitees only. Lord Karan Bilimoria, alumnus of HPS and Member of Parliament of UK, will be releasing the school song.

 

Round Square Conference: The third segment of the January events is the Round Square Conference themed “Adventure – Inhale Courage, Exhale Fear”. Round Square is an international network of 230 plus like-minded schools in 50 countries that collaborate for fostering 21st-century skills, promoting SDGs, cultural exchange, and networking. HPS has been the only school in Telangana as its global member since 2019. HPS shall host over 172 students plus 26 teacher escorts from 24 schools from across the country and international schools, such as, the Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai; GEMS, Dubai; Indian School, Al Ghubra; Welhams Girls, Dehradun and Pathways World School, Noida. The conference includes a Keynote Speech by renowed wildlife conservationist Mr. Saad Bin Jung, Alumnus of HPS-B, Baraaza Sessions & Adventure Activities including bonfire & overnight camping in the school campus and visits to adventure parks.
