The Indian Education system needs some fundamental changes – it has been good in knowledge but not in education

QS I-GAUGE – Academic Excellence Conclave – Indore

Experts Address Contemporary Challenges in the Indian Education System

Indore : “India has been good in knowledge but not in education, therefore our Education system needs some fundamental changes”, said ‘Waterman of India’ Dr. Rajendra Singh, while speaking during the inaugural session of QS I-GAUGE’s Academic Excellence Conclave (MP Chapter), themed ‘Navigating Contemporary Challenges in Indian Education,’.

All experts agreed that in India we need to understand the Indian knowledge system and integrate it better with new technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and therefore not take AI as an impediment, but rather as an enabler. That is because one cannot deny the pervasion of technology in Education. They agreed that AI as an enabler helps in highlighting whatever you have therefore let’s use this for enhancing the Indian knowledge system.

This event saw experts and thought leaders from Higher and School Education to discuss pressing issues faced by India’s education system and explore multifaceted strategies and reforms.

Dr. Rajendra Singh further said “India’s indigenous knowledge system nourishes our education so that we come amongst the best educational Institutes in the world. This effort by QS I-GAUGE to strive to bring Indian Universities to Global standards, though commendable, is a very tough ask.  Nourishing the Indian knowledge system will help our institutions come at par with Global universities These parameters when taken seriously can help Indian institutions stand at the top of the world. Excellence and unwavering support for education have set new benchmarks for all and this is where we now need to raise ourselves to be recognised at the global level.”

“Commenting on Indore, Shri. Pushyamitra Bhargav, Mayor of Indore said “Madhya Pradesh is the only state in India that can boast of an old IIT and IIM, and now we have  Jammu as a rival for that. Indore is also the city of the state which has achieved number one position in the country in terms of cleaning its air. But all this is worthless unless we create an education based on the Indian knowledge tradition”.

Thanking the dignitaries for an exhaustive session on knowledge sharing Mr. Ravin Nair, COO, QS I-GAUGE stated “ Contributions in the field of public service, and health, sustainable management and infrastructure development have been nothing short of transformation. The gross expenditure on research and development has significantly increased and India was ranked as the 3rd  most publisher of research papers in the world in 2023. However, the country ranked 153rd in terms of incitation per paper highlighting the deeper challenge for the academic community. Despite this India has shown significant improvement in the Global Innovation Index, rising from the 81st position in 2015 to 40th in 2023.”

“Knowledge is the foundation of our education policy, this is the way we should look forward” continued Mayor Bhargav.
