The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organised its Convocation 2023
Kolkata: ICAI Convocation 2023 was held on 24th January 2023 in 10 locations throughout the country. The centres were Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Ghaziabad, Indore, Jaipur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ludhiana and Delhi
CA. Sushil Kr. Goyal, Convener, M&SS Directorate, ICAI welcomed the newly qualified Chartered Accountants across all the Convocation Centres in India. In his welcome message he congratulated all the 14500 newly passed out appearing in the Convocation this year.
CA. Aniket Sunil Talati, Vice President, ICAI, said that this year Convocation is held in 10 different locations all over the Country. He said that 2023 will be a special year for India as in this year India has taken the presidency of G20 countries and various G20 summits will be held all across the country as much in line with the vision of ICAI envisaged CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, President, ICAI to bring ICAI Convocation at the Branch Level. In 2023 ICAI will be celebrating 75 Years. He compared the CA Profession with Business, the later which is solely for profit while the former is based on Code of Ethics. He also said that most of the newly qualified opt for service in Industry rather than going for practice. He reminded the young members that CAs are better known for their Audits.
CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, President, ICAI, congratulated the new members for passing the most difficult examination of the country. ICAI being a Global body and the second largest accounting body in the world has been the standard setters in the fields of Standards setter in Accounting, Auditing and Ethics

President ICAI emphasized on the concept of 3Ps which are Profit, People and Planet. He also reiterated ICAI’s vision of Independence, Integrity and Excellence alongwith the words of Late Shri A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India that “CAs are partners in Nation Building.
Shri. Arjun Ram Meghwal, Hon’ble Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs & Culture, Govt. of Indiastressed the much need for Indian Chartered Accountants to strengthen the economy of the country. He said that when India is leading the G20 Countries which talked about “One Earth, One Family and One Future” headed by Shri Narendra Modi, PM of India where Indian CAs have a very important role to play.
CA. Gaurav Sharma, IPS, Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate said that ICAI in its emblem has the words inscribed “Yeh SuptesuJagriti” which means awakened when others are in sleep. These words of “Yeh SuptesuJagriti” given by Rishi Aurobindo to ICAI to describe its character. The emblem of ICAI also portray these words. He also appraised the new CAs how the registered accountants of the early twentieth century have become of the Chartered Accountants of today. He congratulated the New CAs for a bright career ahead and also advised them to keep the bonds with their friends who are not successful this time and encourage them to advance in times to come. He also said how the Chartered Accountants can join Civil Service and serve the nation.

CA. Ranjeet Kr. Agarwal, Council Member, ICAI and Co-ordinator of the Kolkata Convocation said that Chartered Accountants need continuously to upgrade in order to keep up with the requirement of the society.
CA. Ravi Kr. Patwa, Chairman, EIRC offered the vote of thanks. In Kolkata centre 704 newly qualified attended the Convocation.
