“The revived masterpiece of Russia”

Students of the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences of PetrSU visited the exhibition of the State Historical-Architectural and Ethnographic Museum-Reserve “Kizhi” “The Revived Masterpiece of Russia”.
Under the guidance of associate professors of the department of technology and organization of construction L.F. Selyutina and E.I. Ratkova students of 3 and 4 courses in the direction of training “Construction” and the State Historical, Architectural and Ethnographic Museum-Reserve “Kizhi” “The Revived Masterpiece of Russia”.

The exhibition is dedicated to the restoration of the 22-chapter church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord is an Orthodox church, an architectural monument of 1714 of federal importance, located on the territory of the Kizhi Museum-Reserve, is part of the temple complex of the Kizhi Pogost. The restoration, which lasted 40 years, was completed this summer.

At the exhibition, students got acquainted with the fragments of the lifting system, felling and domes, models of the church and domes, 3D models showing the technology of unique restoration, carpenters’ tools, learned about the reasons for the duration, stages and technologies of restoration (including the iconostasis and heavens), features of Russian wooden architecture. A separate area of ​​the exposition is dedicated to the restoration of the iconostasis.

The excursion was led by the museum employee Elena Karavaeva. When visiting the museum, students used the Pushkin map.
