The University of Sheffield, UK is inviting applications for BA Urban Studies course starting in September 2017.
This three-year course gives students substantial knowledge of planning while offering the freedom to study a broader range of topics.
In the  first year, students will  be introduced to some of the core ideas influencing Urban Studies and will look at how urban living and planning have developed up to the present day as well as modules introducing you to the basic economic, social, environmental and governance challenges facing cities.
In the second and third years students can select modules from departments such as Geography, Politics and Sociology. Students can transfer between BA Urban Studies and MPlan Urban Studies and Planning up to the end of their second year.
If students are interested in studying abroad, there are opportunities for them to spend part of their course in another country such as the USA, Denmark, France or Italy.
The course is designed to allow for maximum flexibility and personalisation of student’s course, while ensuring that students gain key analytical and practical skills for the workplace.
Graduates of the course move into careers in a range of professions relating to making better urban places – including urban planning, environmental management and conservation, real estate, housing, property surveying, regeneration, urban government, urban design, and international development – as well as other areas of policymaking, media and the arts.
The course will appeal to students interested in the urban dimensions of human geography or the other social sciences.
The degree also provides a good basis for Sheffield’s range of one-year Masters Programmes, which develop further specialist skills and can provide professional accreditation.The department of urban studies and Planning is the top rated RTPI Planning School in the UK and its graduate employment record is excellent; 95% of its graduates are in jobs (or further study) within 6 months of graduating.
Eligibility- Student would need an average of over 80% in Standard 12th exams and 32 in their IB.
International students need an overall IELTS grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or an equivalent English language qualification
