The University of Sydney partners with 360info & Monash University to support media diversity
The University of Sydney is pleased to announce a partnership with Monash University to develop 360info as an independent information resource for publishers, broadcasters, schools and civic society outlets. 360info operates as a wire agency distributing research-driven content that addresses the world’s key challenges and offers solutions.
360info launched from its base at Monash University in November 2021 and has since established content partnerships with over 1,000 media outlets throughout the Asia Pacific region. It is curated by a team of experienced journalists and news editors who collaborate with university researchers around the world to create factual multimedia news packages and explainers. 360info does not provide breaking news, opinion or commentary. Instead, it is a media resource providing contextual, explanatory and, at times, corrective information.
At a time when media diversity matters more than ever, the 360info project delivers reliable, trusted and accurate information that can be used as a valuable resource for newsrooms.
The University of Sydney will host 360info’s Sydney Editor, to be based at the main campus in Camperdown.
“At a time when media diversity matters more than ever, the 360info project delivers reliable, trusted and accurate information that can be used as a valuable resource for newsrooms,” University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor Professor Mark Scott said.
“The University of Sydney has long been a trusted and leading voice in the media and this partnership helps promote the great work of all universities doing academic research that looks for solutions to the great global challenges.”
Monash University Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner, AC, said:
“I am truly delighted that the University of Sydney is joining us to help further develop 360info. It was launched by Monash University to increase the availability of reliable and credible information driven by the world’s research universities, and in doing so better inform public debate on critical global challenges, including climate change, geopolitical security, and fostering thriving communities.”
“With the University of Sydney as part of the project, I have no doubt we will further build on the substantial success of 360info’s first year.”
