Three-day workshop on scientific writing begins at AMU

 

Aligarh : The Faculty of Unani Medicine, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), under the aegis of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi, commenced a three-day workshop aimed at orienting and sensitizing post-graduate guides on “Scientific Writing, Research Integrity, and Publication Ethics.”

Addressing the inaugural function, the chief guest Prof. Abdul Mannan, former Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine said that with the advent of internet and availability of immense load of resource material online, there has emerged a number of challenges in quality research as well which mars the very integrity of scientific writing.

He said that researchers need to keep away from the modern threats to the research ethics that include Data fabrication, Data falsification, Omission of data and Plagiarism.

Prof. Salma Ahmed, MIC Dawakhana Tibbiya College, AMU, and Dr. Wasim Ahmad, Principal, SUMC, Prayagraj, were the Guests of Honour.

Dr. Farooq Ahmad Dar, the Workshop Coordinator, highlighted the significance of the event and hoped that the workshop will kindle interest in scientific writing and expand the evidence base for the Unani System of Medicine.

“This initiative is designed to support faculty members and researchers in mastering the intricacies of academic writing, leading to quality publications and higher citations,” he remarked.

In his opening address, Prof. Ubaidullah Khan, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, stressed the importance of contemporary research methods. Prof. Badrudduja Khan, Principal of Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, stressed on the need for quality mentoring of post-graduate students and carry forward the rich academic traditions of AMU.

Prof. Salma Ahmed expressed confidence that the workshop would significantly enhance the quality of research publications. Dr. Wasim Ahmad echoed this sentiment, encouraging participants to embrace lifelong learning.

The program was convened by Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rabia Riaz.
