Time to give Ayurveda and Ayush its due credit, need more innovation and research in this sec knowtor: Padma Shri Dr. Bharat Bhushan

Delhi: Aiming to promote wellness in the form of Yoga, Aayurveda and Naturopathy, Shobhit University hosted 2nd Wellbeing Summit in Delhi on Saturday.

In the continuation of the honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision to keep India fit and healthy and taking cue from the first ‘Health and Wellness Centre launch’ by
the Government’s under the ambit of ambitious health assurance
programme- Ayushman Bharat, this wellness Summit aims to propagate the message of Wellbeing and wellness among people.

The summit seiged presence of several eminent dignitaries, spiritual leaders, yoga guru, academicians and media persons.

The inaugural session was addressed by
Padma Shri Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Mokshayatan International Yogashram, Saharanpur and chaired by Shri Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, Chancellor, Shobhit University, Gangoh & Meerut .

Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, Chancellor, Shobhit University, said, “Wellness is a process of awakening your consciousness and conscience, and embracing healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. Wellness is more than being free from ailemenst, it is a holistic approach of reformation and growth..It is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

The prime objectives of the ‘Wellbeing Summit’ was the acceptance of Ayurveda into mainstream healthcare system, to establish Ayurveda as
solution for global health and lifestyle challenges and to create a major fillip to the Ayurveda Industry through start-ups and investors.

“The other major objective of the summit is to inform society about the activity organised in Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra Ayurveda medical college and research center, on the potential of developing the Indian medicans, Ayurveda Yoga and Naturopathy, the global wellness economy worth $4.2 trillion in 2017 that is growing at 6.4 per cent annually. We should take the advantage of this and inform common people about the opportunity,” said the Chancellor.

It is to be noted that the Government aims to initiate 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres by the end of 2022. These centres will capitalize on extensive primary healthcare units in rurals areas,
through preventive and curative care.

The wellness industry is rapidly growing in India and as well as all over the globe. This sector is not limited to elite people or luxury brands. There is tremendous scope. Ayurveda and yoga can become leading providers of this
sector. Ministry of AYUSH is closely working with the ministry of commerce, tourism and MSME to capitalise on this opportunity,” said Dr. Sudhir Lad, Principal, KSVQMC & RC , Shobhit University .

Padma Shri Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Mokshayatan International Yogashram, Saharanpur said, “I foresees a three-fold increase in the market size
of wellbeing products, from $2.5 billion to $8 billion. Place like Uttarakhand is the center for all the spiritual activities, we are looking forward to take Yoga and Aayurveda to the next level. India is the global leader in these two fields. Now we aspire to make wellness a lifestyle routine among Indians. It is a a nobel initiative by Shobhit University.”
