Tokyo Institute of Technology: Spring Graduation Ceremonies 2020
Tokyo Tech’s Graduation Ceremonies for academic year 2020 were held on March 26, 2021 at Ookayama Campus. Bachelor’s degree recipients were acknowledged in the morning, while master’s and doctoral graduates were honored in the afternoon.
This spring, Tokyo Tech conferred 162 doctoral degrees, 1,559 master’s degrees, 32 professional master’s degrees, and 1,090 bachelor’s degrees.
Like in the previous year, the Institute’s ceremonies were scaled down significantly due to COVID-19. At the venue were President Kazuya Masu, the Institute’s seven other members of the board, and Tokyo Tech Alumni Association President Kiyoto Ido (Class of 1972, Department of Mathematics).
Student participants were limited to one representative from each of Tokyo Tech’s Schools, valedictorians, and at the morning ceremony, one student representing the 17 recipients of the Tokyo Institute of Technology Academic Excellence Award. Other students, family members, faculty, and friends were asked to experience the celebrations virtually via a livestream.

I want you to take pride in being members of Tokyo Tech’s tenacious Class of 2020.” the president stated.
In his brief addresses, alumnus Ido offered his congratulations and shared with the graduates his motivating message regarding the future.
