Tokyo Institute of Technology’s Rowing Club rule at 45th East Japan Rookie Competition
Members of the Tokyo Tech Rowing Club have finished first and second in the men’s coxed four category of the 45th East Japan Rookie Competition, held on November 19 and 20 at the Toda Boat Course in Saitama Prefecture.
The East Japan Rookie Competition unites rowers in the East Japan area who are in their first or second year of competitive rowing. In the coxed four category, four rowers propel the boat with sweep oars, one oar per rower, while one cox steers the boat.
Competing against Tokyo Tech at the 45th East Japan Rookie Competition were rowers from Waseda University, Seikei University, and the University of Tsukuba. During the initial round, Team Tokyo Tech let their nerves get the better of them, allowing the University of Tsukuba rowers to finish first. However, Tokyo Tech adjusted their strategy and started the final more slowly. Towards the end of the race, both Tokyo Tech boats caught up and crossed the line with an impressive one-two finish.
