TOKYO UNIVERSITY DELEGATION CALLS ON VICE-CHANCELLOR PROF. SUDHIR K JAIN
VARANASI : Mutual cooperation, bilateral exchange and student and faculty interaction topped the agenda as the Tokyo University delegation called on Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain during the former’s recent visit to Banaras Hindu University. The delegation comprising Professor K E Seetha Ram and Prof Takahiro Kato, Director of the University of Tokyo Delhi office, discussed ways to have greater engagements between the students and teachers of Tokyo University and Banaras Hindu University. Prof. Seetha Ram suggested exploring possibilities of setting up a Tokyo University extension office on BHU campus. He said that an institution like Banaras Hindu University has enormous potential and opportunities to offer not only to students and academicians but to institutions as well and Tokyo University would be interested to tap this opportunity for the benefit of students and teachers from both sides. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain welcomed the suggestions made by Prof. Seetha Ram and said that BHU is committed to create new opportunities for its members, and collaborating with international institutions is one of the most important aspects in achieving this. The Tokyo university delegation also suggested holding a joint international workshop at BHU involving global universities in wake of India assuming the G20 presidency. The multi-national summit is scheduled to be organized in cities across India in 2023. Prof. Seetha Ram said that India’s G20 presidency offers a plethora of opportunities in different sectors, education being one of the most important of them all. He said that the Asian Development Bank Institute is ready to offer all the support required for the workshop. Prof. N. V. Chalapathi Rao, Coordinator, International Collaborations, was also present during the meeting.
