Tomsk State University: TSU will train managers online for large corporations

In September 2021, the Institute of Economics and Management (IEM) will open the English-language master’s program International Management in a new, online format, in addition to the traditional offline program. Teaching will be conducted in English, and professors from universities and business schools in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and China will join the educational process. Students will be able to intern at large partner companies such as IBM, Huawei, Unilever, Sberbank, and possibly find employment there after graduation.

The master’s program International Management traditionally attracts the attention of applicants: it is of interest both to practicing managers, economists, and entrepreneurs interested in creating their international business projects, and also to recent graduates of bachelor’s degrees in various training profiles.

New students will have the opportunity to choose: study in a full-time group or receive knowledge online from anywhere in the world at a convenient time on a flexible schedule.

– Online training in the International Management program will promote not only hard skills in the profession, but also important soft skills related to working in a distributed multicultural team, organizing a cloud digital workspace for project implementation, and much more. Thus, the training format strengthens the readiness of future graduates of the program for new work formats that are increasingly becoming a practice – freelance, outsourcing, and remote mode, – comments Daria Maslova.
In addition to TSU teachers, professors from universities and business schools in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and China are involved in the program, many of them members of the IEM Board of Trustees. The scientific director of the program, Jean-Paul Larson, is an emeritus professor at the École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Paris. He annually holds his own seminars for master’s degree students in International Management with great success.

– Our program is aimed at ambitious young people. Full immersion in the English-speaking educational environment, interaction with recognized management gurus, participation in international exchange programs, an internship in international companies, development of our own projects – all these are very attractive features of our program. In addition, the favorable cost of education is its important competitive advantage, – says Olga Nedospasova, head of the International Management Master’s program.
Education in the master’s program is carried out entirely in English, both for online or offline. However, students can choose a second foreign language: Russian as a foreign language, English, and Chinese, including starting and continuing to study a foreign language, taking into account their basic level.

For students who speak not only English but also Chinese, the module International Business is offered in Chinese. Its disciplines are aimed at developing special competencies: for creating and promoting business in China, developing Russian-Chinese collaboration, and working in the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

Students will also have the opportunity to solve real-life cases from companies – work with industrial partners of the IEM, undergo full-time or distance internships (in semesters 2 and 4), complete graduate work based on them, and, possibly, find a job.

The master’s program International Management collaborates not only with corporate partners but also with leading European universities. Students who will study on the TSU campus full-time have the opportunity to participate in academic mobility programs, and during the third semester, they study on exchange at a partner university. In addition, negotiations on the participation of masters of international management at TSU in the double-degree program with the University of the Cote d’Azure, France are close to successful completion.
