Toronto Metropolitan University: TMU Bold look forward to upcoming varsity season
New team name, new season, same great varsity competition. Eight TMU Bold teams will be kicking off their season this fall after a very successful postseason in 2021-2022, including Toronto Metropolitan University’s (TMU) national champions, the women’s basketball team.
Athletics and Recreation are also marking the 10th anniversary of the Mattamy Athletic Centre with events and other milestones to be celebrated later this fall.

Women’s Soccer
Coming off their second straight playoff appearance, women’s soccer gets the new varsity season underway with their home opener on September 4. TMU will play host to Ottawa at Downsview Park with kick-off set for 1:00 p.m.
Men’s Soccer
A team consistently earning their way into the national rankings, the men’s soccer team looks to have another successful season on the pitch. The first home game day for the squad falls on September 18 when they host the Trent Excalibur at Downsview Park at 3:15 p.m.
Men’s Hockey
Fresh off their first ever conference medal and trip to the national championship, the men’s hockey team returns to home ice for their first regular season game at the Mattamy Athletic Centre on October 20 when they host the Toronto Varsity Blues at 6:00 p.m.
Women’s Hockey
The TMU women’s hockey team will be at the centre of the Homecoming celebrations this year, hosting the annual event on September 15 against Concordia at 6:30 p.m. The puck drops on their regular season home opener on October 22 at 1:00 p.m. when they welcome the Nipissing Lakers to the MAC.
Women’s Volleyball
The women’s volleyball team looks to put their 2021-22 experiences to good use when they start the new season. The first opportunity to catch them in action on home court comes November 12 when they host the Toronto Varsity Blues at 2:00 p.m.
Men’s Volleyball
Following a season that saw the men’s volleyball team advance to the quarter-finals, this year the team will be pushing for more and the home court action starts on November 12 against the Toronto Varsity Blues at 4:00 p.m.
Several hands reach to touch a trophy
The TMU women’s basketball team will return to the court on November 5 after winning the provincial and national championship in 2021-22.
Women’s Basketball
Circle your calendars for November 5 as the TMU women’s basketball team tip-off a new season and celebrate their provincial and national championship titles from 2021-22. The team will unveil their banners at the MAC and start the new campaign against the Toronto Varsity Blues at 6:00 p.m.
Men’s Basketball
Following on the heels of the women’s opener, the men’s basketball team also begins the season anew on November 5, hosting their downtown counterparts in the Toronto Varsity Blues starting at 8:00 p.m.
Cheer on the TMU Bold this season
Downsview Park and the Mattamy Athletic Centre will be open to spectators and fans will have lots to look forward to as they cheer on their teams!
Students can attend games for free with their OneCard. Otherwise, tickets can be purchased in advance on the Mattamy Athletic Centre website, external link. General admission for adults is $13, $9 for TMU alumni and children 12 and under are free. Tickets are not required for soccer games at Downsview Park.
