Tourism Department organises promotional event at Kolkatta; WB Tourism trade fraternity pledges its commitment to J&K

 

SRINAGAR: The J&K Tourism Department organised a promotional event at Kolkatta in which all the prominent heads of travel trade associations, local media and senior officials from the Tourism Department of West Bengal participated.

The J&K Tourism Department team was represented by Waseem Raja, Additional Secretary, Tourism and Ambika Bali, Assistant Director, Tourism, Katra and Ahsanul Haq, Incharge Tourist Officer, Kolkatta.

In his presentation, Waseem Raja highlighted the new tourism products, services and the upcoming festival calendar rolled out by the Department. He informed about the series of festivals being organised by the Tourism Department in the next few months, which includes some iconic festivals.

The presentation highlighted the activities and the steps taken by the department during the last few months after the second wave of Covid-19 and the vaccination drive carried out by the Department to ensure that all tourism service providers and the tourism staff are fully vaccinated. He assured the travel trade and media that all COVID protocols are being followed in the UT to ensure safety of tourists and the service providers . He also laid emphasis on the art, culture, cuisine, natural beauty, adventure and Golf as a unique feature of the Tourism diversity in Jammu and Kashmir.

The travel trade fraternity of Kolkata, on the occasion, appreciated the efforts of J&K Tourism Department to organise such an event in Kolkatta after the 2nd wave of Covid-19 and they hoped that the tourists from West Bengal will keep visiting the J&K and also explore the unexplored destinations of Gurez, Bungus, Bhaderwah, Bani, Sarthal among others and be mesmerized with the rich experience of JK Tourism.

The event was attended by the Tourism Trade fraternity from West Bengal especially Manav Soni, Chairman TAAI Eastern Region, Debjit Dutta Director and CEO ITS, Amitava Sarkar General Secretary TAAB among others who reiterated that Jammu & Kashmir is and shall remain the most preferred destination for Bengalis.

The event was followed by a press briefing in which most of the leading print and electronic media of Kolkatta interacted with the visiting officers.

The two days promotional event of the Department of Tourism, shall culminate today with a Road Chariot Show near Victoria Place.

In order to continue its proportional drive outside the UT, the Tourism Department has recently organised one such event at Chennai and intends to hold more such events in coming days across prominent markets like Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad before the upcoming autumn and winter season.
