Transform Van Mahotsav into Public Movement: Madhya Pradesh CM Chouhan

Bhopal : The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan while extending best wishes on the occasion of Van Mahotsav, said that Van Mahotsav has been observed every year to generate consciousness about plantation among common man. The main basis of the state’s Forest Policy is to provide employment to local village community and environment conservation by better management of forests. The Chief Minister further mentioned that the Joint Forest Management has been adopted to make participation of villagers more practical and transparent in forest management. In order to protect environment and to reduce ill effects of climate change in the state, there is a need to make the state lush green by undertaking plantation at wide scale on non-forest lands.

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan asserted that schemes are being run by the State Bamboo Mission and Green India Mission for plantation on lands of farmers to increase the green cover. Active participation of common man is needed in achieving success under these schemes and to make the state lush green. By conducting schemes under the mission, encourage farmers for plantation on private lands, which will lead to enhancement in forests cover, he added.

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan urged the citizens of the state that they should transform Van Mahotsav into a Public Movement by undertaking plantation and also protect the plants. Nearest forest nursery can be contacted to obtain technical guidance for plantation and plants.
