Tree plantation to mark ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’
Aligarh : Functionaries of the Department of Land and Gardens, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) are planting tree saplings in different areas of the university to mark Nation-wide, ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations in a tree plantation drive which began on August 10 (Wednesday) at the Bhamola Residential Colony of AMU.
“Mr Diwakar Vashishtha (District Forest Officer) attended the inaugural of the plantation drive as the Chief Guest and Prof Afifullah Khan (OSD Development, AMU) was the Guest of Honour”, said Prof Zaki Anwar Siddiqui (Member-in-Charge, Department of Land and Gardens).
Dr Tariq Aftab (Associate Member-in-Charge, Department of Land and Gardens) informed that more than 200 saplings of Bakayan, Arjun, Neem and other trees have been planted so far.
