Tribal dance festival: Group of 34 JK students to participate in national event
Jammu: Secretary Cooperatives, Revenue and Tribal Affairs, Abdul Majid Bhat today flagged off a group of 34 tribal students for participating in the national dance festival in Raipur, Chattisgrah.
The students have been selected from different districts of J&K on the basis of their excellent performance on different occasions. They will perform folk dances wearing traditional attires of representing their respective customs. This is the first occasion when the tribal students of J&K have got an opportunity to showcase their talent at such a significant platform.
Director Tribal Affairs, Mohammad Saleem Malik; Secretary, J&K Advisory Board for Gujjar & Bakerwal, Mukhtar Ahmad Chaudhary and Warden G&B Boys Hostel, Jammu Mushtaq Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
The Secretary Cooperatives exhorted upon the accompanying officials to take best care of the students during their stay in the host state. He further advised the students to give their best and make J&K proud on the national podium.
The secretary said that this festival would provide students unique opportunity to gain experience, knowledge about diverse cultures and expose them to a national level competition.
Noting the enthusiasm of the participating students, he asked them to enjoy this tour as such journeys are meant to make students learn and have pleasant memories also.
