Tribal Migratory Population Census-2021 kick-started at Anantnag; Important for their targeted socio-economic welfare, upliftment: DDC

ANANTNAG : With the aim to compile the demographic statistics of migratory population for extending socio-economic benefits, authorities in Anantnag have kick-started the first ever Tribal Migratory Census/Enumeration, here. During the Enumeration, the necessary data essential for targeted plan formulation shall be collected from the Migratory Population.

The District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla said that tehsil wise teams with officials from several departments have been deputed for the purpose adding the necessary information will be compiled upto 20 July 2021.

While elaborating the importance of the Survey, the DDC said it would be helpful to roll out targeted measures like better healthcare and education, convenience in movement, enrollment in beneficiary oriented schemes besides providing livestock and other income generating units for the Nomads/Migratory population for their overall socioeconomic upliftment and welfare.

Dr. Singla informed that these teams shall visit the highland pastures/bahaks/dhokas and the necessary logistic support has been provided to the team members.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Bashir Ahmad, who is the Nodal Officer for the exercise said that necessary training have been imparted to the concerned officials in this regard.
