Trinity College Dublin: Trinity rises to 146th in THE World University Rankings

Trinity College Dublin has risen nine places as Ireland’s leading university in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Trinity has risen to 146th in the 2022 rankings, up from 155th in 2021. The 2022 rankings involve a record 1,662 universities.

This year’s result was helped by strong performances in research and citations (two of the main categories on which the overall score is based).

Dean of Research at Trinity, Professor Wolfgang Schmitt, said:

We are pleased to see Trinity improving its position in the THE World University Ranking. This progress is testament to the quality and dedication of staff and the college community – particularly considering this difficult and challenging last year.

Excellence in research and teaching are the foundations of our university’s activities. I am pleased with the improved performances in the ‘Research’ and ‘Citations’ pillars. This ranking underlines Trinity’s reputation as a modern, international academic institution.

The THE performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Teaching; Research; Citations; International outlook; and Industry income.

Trinity’s top-ranked pillar was International Outlook, in which it ranked 43rd for 2022.
