From June 20 to 21, the 2024 National Energy Internet Conference was held in Future Science City, Changping District, Beijing. The conference was hosted by Tsinghua University and Beijing Future Science City Management Committee, organized by Tsinghua University Energy Internet Innovation Institute and Beijing Future Science City Development Group Co., Ltd., and co-organized by Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, Tsinghua University National and Global Governance Institute, and Tsinghua University Carbon Neutrality Research Institute.

Xiang Haiping, Chief Engineer of the National Energy Administration, Wang Xiaoyun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Yunjie, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhi Xianwei, Deputy Secretary of the Changping District Committee, District Mayor, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Future Science City, and Director of the Management Committee, Jiang Shengyao, Deputy Director of the Tsinghua University Academic Affairs Committee and Vice President of the Alumni Association, and Liu Qiang, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Future Science City and Deputy Mayor of Changping District, attended the meeting. Nearly a thousand relevant persons from energy Internet-related enterprises, research institutes, financial institutions, and industry associations attended the offline meeting. The conference was hosted by Gao Wensheng, Secretary-General of the National Energy Internet Industry and Technology Innovation Alliance.

In order to help achieve the “dual carbon” goals and promote the green transformation of energy, the conference is themed “AI empowers the energy Internet and innovates and develops new quality productivity”. It aims to build a cross-border exchange platform for innovative resources such as energy Internet-related enterprises, scientific research universities, venture capital institutions, etc., to promote the industry to jointly build an open, shared, cooperative and innovative industrial ecology of the energy Internet, and shape a new pattern of low-carbon and intelligent development of the future energy Internet industry.

Xiang Haiping said that in recent years, the National Energy Administration has conscientiously implemented the new energy security strategy, promoted the construction of a four-in-one energy science and technology innovation system consisting of major technology research and development, major equipment development, major demonstration projects, and science and technology innovation platforms, and at the same time, made every effort to fight the key core technology battle of the new energy system and continuously promote high-quality energy development. Looking to the future, the National Energy Administration will unswervingly promote energy science and technology innovation, further strengthen top-level design, carefully cultivate and expand the new energy industry, vigorously promote energy science and technology innovation, and strengthen international energy cooperation in all aspects to help the high-quality development of the economy and society and provide solid support for achieving the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.

Zhi Xianwei said that as the only region in Beijing that is positioned to develop the energy internet industry, Changping District has taken the energy internet as a key track to strengthen the advanced energy industry in recent years, and has issued the first special support policy for the energy internet region in China, integrating all technical directions such as smart grid, ultra-high voltage transmission, and clean energy, showing a good trend of vigorous development. Looking to the future, Changping will focus on the direction of “energy + Internet”, accelerate the integration of the “three forces” of electricity, computing power, and power, promote the demonstration and application of new technologies, new models, and new formats, stimulate the transformation of the entire value chain of energy production, transportation, storage, and consumption, and strive to create an energy internet industry cluster.

Jiang Shengyao said that the Energy Internet will empower the traditional energy industry with innovative technologies, drive deep integration and innovation across energy fields, and is a representative new quality productivity that helps the transformation of new energy. In recent years, China has taken solid steps in the field of Energy Internet and achieved remarkable results. In order to promote the energy revolution and help achieve the country’s “dual carbon” goals, Tsinghua University has successively established a number of research institutes to help the country break through a number of technical barriers in the energy field, actively promote international energy cooperation, and make China’s voice heard internationally. In the future, Tsinghua University will work hand in hand with all sectors of society to further provide society with compound talents who can promote scientific and technological innovation and promote social progress, and help the Energy Internet to continue to develop healthily.

Wang Xiaoyun gave a keynote speech entitled “Cryptography and Data Factor Market”, introducing the opportunities and challenges of the data factor market and the energy Internet, and explored the application and challenges of cryptography in data factors and the energy Internet. Liu Yunjie gave a keynote speech entitled “Thoughts on the Coordinated Development of Energy and Computing Internet”, introducing the significance of deterministic network technology in effectively solving key issues of the energy Internet and computing Internet and promoting the coordinated development of the two networks.
