Tsinghua University Convenes 7th Meeting of 21st Trade Union Congress
On the morning of May 23, the 7th meeting of the 21st Trade Union Members’ Congress of Tsinghua University was held at the Trade Union Club. Xiang Botao, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the Trade Union, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, Zhang Zuo, executive vice chairman of the Trade Union, made a work report, and Peng Fangyan, vice chairman of the Trade Union, presided over the meeting.
Xiang Botao extended his sincere greetings to the faculty and staff who worked hard in various positions, and affirmed the work of the school union in the past year. He pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has made a series of important statements on the working class and trade union work, which have provided a fundamental guideline for us to grasp the direction of the labor movement and trade union work in the new era. Trade union organizations at all levels of the school should implement the requirements of the Party Central Committee and the arrangements of the higher-level trade unions, the 18th National Congress of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, and the 15th National Congress of the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions. Under the leadership of the school party committee, they should continue to deepen the reform and innovation of trade union work, give full play to the role of bridge and link, serve the faculty and staff wholeheartedly, serve the overall work of the school, and continuously enhance the political, advanced, and mass nature, and enhance the leadership, organization, and service capabilities, so as to help the school develop with high quality through high-quality trade union work.
Zhang Zuo made a work report entitled “Adhere to the main responsibility, strengthen self-construction; unite and forge ahead, and show a new start”. He summarized the work in 2023 from the four dimensions of “cohesion, dream building, strengthening the foundation, and warming the heart”, and reported on the problems existing in the work of the trade union and the main work ideas for the next stage. The school union will adhere to the center and serve the overall situation, and strive to create a “Qing·HUI (Hui) work system” composed of modules such as “Gathering·Cohesion and Soul Casting”, “Painting·Dreaming and Pursuing Dreams”, “Benefit·Warm-hearted Service”, and “Gathering·Strong Foundation Empowerment”. Solidly advance the work in the ideological guidance of faculty and staff, carry forward the spirit of model workers, the spirit of labor, and the spirit of craftsmanship, deepen the construction of two-level trade unions, and improve the work platform, and continuously improve the ability and level of serving faculty and staff.
The meeting arranged a work sharing session for outstanding branch union honorary units. Ge Dongyun, chairman of the branch union of the Institute of Aeronautics, and Zhang Youjie, chairman of the branch union of the Institute of Nuclear Research, respectively introduced the characteristics and highlights of the work such as the ideological guidance and professional ability improvement of faculty and staff, caring services, and the construction of secondary faculty and staff congresses. The conference commended and awarded the 2023 National Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports Federation of Trade Unions Model Staff Home, Beijing Education Federation of Trade Unions Advanced Staff Home, Beijing Workers Warm Heart Station, Tsinghua University Faculty and Staff Home, Tsinghua University Outstanding Branch Unions, and “One Association, One Product” brand work cases.
More than 140 people attended the meeting, including members of the school union committee, union member representatives, and chairmen or vice chairmen of each branch union.
