Tsinghua University Deputy Secretary Guo Yong Engages in Discussion with Student Art Troupe Members

On the morning of May 9, Guo Yong, deputy secretary of the school party committee, held a discussion with teachers and students of the student art troupe. Members of the student art troupe working group, party branch members, team backbones and other teacher and student representatives attended the discussion.

Guo Yong responded to the relevant topics of teacher-student exchanges and fully affirmed the achievements of the student art troupe in all aspects in the past stage. First, he has performed well in major special events such as the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, the Beijing Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics, and important on-campus performance tasks. Second, Tsinghua’s characteristics have been demonstrated in terms of literary and artistic creation and performance. The original drama “Malan Blossoms Bloom” has been performed nearly 100 times both inside and outside the school and has become a “golden business card” of the school. The output of the folk art team, chorus team, dance team, national standard team and other teams A series of excellent works. Third, a bright spot has been formed in the popularization of campus art. The echelon construction has been improved, and immersive performances such as art salons and lawn concerts between classes have been enriched, which has stimulated students’ enthusiasm for receiving aesthetic education and nourished the hearts of teachers and students. Guo Yong said that the student art troupe should be built to a higher standard. It is necessary to reflect representativeness in thought, effectively play the leading role of party building and the vanguard and exemplary role of party members, make up for shortcomings and strengths and weaknesses, and consolidate basic work such as party organization building, party member development, and activist cultivation, so that party building can truly drive team building. It is necessary to reflect representativeness in academics, build a good academic style, emphasize academics, and complete good training and performances on the basis of ensuring one’s own academics. It is necessary to reflect representativeness in business, proactively adapt to changes in the policy for students with special talents, pay more attention to attracting students with artistic pursuits and artistic literacy from the whole school, and further improve artistic standards through the training system of the student art troupe.

The Tsinghua University Student Art Troupe is the literary and artistic representative team of Tsinghua University. It always adheres to educating people with aesthetics, culture and morality, and is an important carrier of the school’s aesthetic education work. It currently has 11 teams including military band, folk band, chorus, symphony band, dance team, drama team, international standard dance team, keyboard team, art club, Peking opera team, and folk art team, with nearly 1,500 members.
