Tsinghua University Hosts “Global Industrial Development Forum 2024”

From May 23rd to 24th, the “Global Industrial Development Forum 2024” was held in the reception hall of the main building of Tsinghua University, jointly organized by Tsinghua University Global Industrial Research Institute and China Industrial Cooperation Economics Society, and strategically cooperated with Xinhuanet. Yang Bin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Tsinghua University, Chu Xuejun, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Xinhuanet, and Peng Kaiping, Dean of Tsinghua University Global Industrial Research Institute, attended and delivered speeches.

This forum is themed “New Quality Productivity Leading Industrial Transformation and Upgrading”, focusing on the key role of new quality productivity in promoting industrial innovation and promoting high-quality economic development. It will include 33 keynote speeches, 3 sub-forums and roundtable discussions on biopharmaceutical industry, low-altitude economic industry and high-quality development of Chinese listed companies.

The forum brought together Chen Kaixian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yang Zhiming, a special researcher at the State Council’s Counselor’s Office and president of the China Labor Society, Zhuang Congsheng, former vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Ouyang Weimin, vice president of the China Society of Finance, Meng Xiaosu and Chi Jingtao, vice presidents of the China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations, Huang Yuncheng, chairman of the Academic Advisory Committee of the China Association of Public Companies, Liu Shuwei, Miao Qinghua, Ouyang Zhenyuan, Yu Xingxi and Xie Xuecheng, members of the Academic Advisory Committee of the China Association of Public Companies, Wang Hongguang, former director of the China Biotechnology Development Center, Zhang Wei, president of the China Drug Supervision and Administration Research Society, and other representatives from the government, scientific research institutions, industry associations, as well as experts and scholars from universities and corporate representatives, for in-depth discussions on topics such as “technological innovation and industrial upgrading”, “management innovation and organizational change”, “business model innovation and market development”, and “education and talent training”.

As an important part of this forum, Professor He Zhiyi, chief expert of Tsinghua University Global Industry Research Institute, released the annual report “China’s Industry in the Global Landscape” for the fourth consecutive year, focusing on the industrial strength coefficients of various countries, the strength coefficients of world leading enterprises, the industrial strength coefficients of various regions in China, the state-owned and non-state-owned enterprise coefficients of various regions and industries in China, and the classification structure of China’s leading enterprises. Research team members Yang Jun and Ye Chen released special reports on “Global Industry Research Map” and “Global Consumer Industry”.

The “Global Industry Development Forum (GIF)” series of activities began in 2021, providing a platform for colleagues from all walks of life who are concerned about the development of China’s industries to listen to each other, exchange opinions, and offer suggestions.
