Tsinghua University Library Co-Hosts 2nd China-Foreign Library High-Level Dialogue Forum

On June 20th, during the 30th Beijing International Book Fair, the Second China-Foreign Library High-end Dialogue Forum, co-organized by China National Library Group and Tsinghua University Library, was held in Beijing. The theme of this forum was “AI FOR SERVICE-The changes brought by artificial intelligence to the publishing industry and library community”. Jin Jianbin, director of Tsinghua University Library, presided over the forum. Lin Liying, general manager of China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Co., Ltd., attended and delivered a speech. The forum attracted more than 80 representatives from more than 70 libraries and publishing houses around the world.

Li Xinwan, Director of the Think Tank Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Clem Guthro, Director of the Library of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Shi Lei, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tsinghua University Press, Frans Lettenström, Global Sales Director of Bentham Science , and Xu Ruohua, Deputy General Manager of China Library Science and Technology Digital Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., and other experts delivered keynote speeches.

This forum focused on how artificial intelligence technology profoundly affects and shapes the future of the publishing industry and library community. The forum discussed in depth the challenges and development opportunities faced by the publishing industry and library community under the wave of artificial intelligence, the application prospects of new technologies in library and scientific research services, and the profound impact of changes in readers’ reading habits and interest preferences on international publishing and library construction.

Since its establishment in 2023, the “High-end Dialogue Forum between Chinese and Foreign Libraries” has become a widely-watched featured academic event during the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), and has been welcomed and praised by industry experts and scholars.
