Tsinghua University President Li Luming Holds Talks with 2024 Graduate Student Delegates
Tsinghua News Network, June 28 (Reporter Tian Jirong , Correspondent Deng Shiqing, Photographer Yang Yanbin ) On the afternoon of June 21, a symposium for Tsinghua University graduate students was held in the Century Auditorium of the Library. President Li Luming and the students reviewed the unforgettable campus time together on the eve of graduation and sent good wishes to the students who are about to go on a long journey. Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University Guo Yong attended the symposium.
After listening carefully to the speeches of the students, Li Luming said that everyone is about to set sail from Tsinghua to all parts of the world, to display their ambitions and work hard in different positions. The alma mater is proud of every Tsinghua student with lofty ideals and firm beliefs. He encouraged everyone to “set high goals, enter the mainstream, step onto the big stage, and do big things”, and shared with the students three thoughts and suggestions on future development: First, it is important to choose the right direction. We must have keen insight, long-term vision and a broad pattern, choose a development direction that is valuable to the stability and prosperity of the country and the progress of human civilization, and pursue a life with higher levels, higher realms and higher taste. Second, we must firmly be long-termists. The road is long and difficult, but we will reach our destination if we keep going. We must continue to work hard in the selected direction unswervingly, and constantly update and iterate in persistence, surpass ourselves, and pursue a qualitative leap in the accumulation of quantity. Third, we must learn to integrate into the collective and keep a childlike heart forever. “If you are made of iron, you can twist a few nails.” We should attach importance to the collective strength and the power of the team, dare to take responsibility and be good at unity and cooperation. We should actively practice the school motto of “Self-improvement and Virtue”, and strive to realize the value of life and achieve a career in the vast world.
