Tsinghua University President Li Luming Hosts University of Surrey President Lu Gaoqing

Tsinghua University President Li Luming met with the guests in the West Hall of the I-shaped Hall, and the two sides discussed and exchanged views on further deepening cooperation.

Li Luming welcomed the visit of Lu Gaoqing and his delegation, and introduced the progress and measures of Tsinghua University in actively carrying out cutting-edge scientific research, promoting the construction of the World University Alliance, and expanding international exchanges and cooperation. He said that Tsinghua University has distinctive characteristics and outstanding advantages in the discipline construction of energy and climate change related fields, and strives to play a leading role and carry out a series of innovative research. He hopes to further promote scientific research and innovation cooperation with the University of Surrey around international hot topics such as carbon neutrality, sustainable development, and climate change in the future.

Lu Gaoqing introduced the distinctive and advantageous disciplines and school development of the University of Surrey, and expressed the hope that in the future, the two sides will work together with Tsinghua University to leverage their disciplinary advantages in energy, environment, sustainable development and other fields, further strengthen exchanges and carry out extensive cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence governance, leadership development, sustainable development and so on, and jointly respond to new challenges facing mankind through scientific research and innovative cooperation.

Before the meeting, Lu Gaoqing visited the Department of Chemistry of Tsinghua University and gave a lecture on “Functional Nanomaterials for Green Hydrogen Production and Storage”.

Mr. Patrick DEGG, Vice President of the University of Surrey, and others attended the talks. Heads of relevant units such as the Department of Chemistry, Schwarzman College, Carbon Neutrality Institute, and International Affairs Office of Tsinghua University attended the meeting.
