Ouyang Zheng’s speech

Ouyang Zheng, Dean of Shenzhen International Graduate School, delivered a speech on the theme of “Embrace Change, Define the Future”. He first congratulated all the graduates of the Class of 2024 on behalf of Shenzhen International Graduate School and expressed his gratitude to the faculty and staff who carefully trained the students. He said that graduate school graduation is the beginning of building a career and settling down. The world is changing rapidly today, and China’s economy is also transforming. Students should calm down and do something that is truly likely to change the world, something that is high-level and difficult, and redefine “dare to sit on the bench.” “Put your precious time in a space that others are unwilling to step into, and you will find that you have unknowingly stood at the center of defining the future and innovation.”

Ouyang Zheng hopes that students will not only remain diligent, but also be brave, dare to explore and make mistakes, have lofty ambitions, take small steps towards a great goal, and be determined to achieve self-reliance in China’s science and technology and the successful transformation of China’s economy, and make substantial and key contributions to the rise of the Chinese nation and a better life for all mankind.

“Tsinghua has shaped you, and in the future Tsinghua will continue to be defined by you.” Ouyang Zheng expressed the hope that students will embrace change, dare to define the future, and remain confident and calm.

Deng Feng made a speech

Deng Feng, alumni representative and founding managing partner of Northern Light Venture Capital, reviewed his past in Tsinghua University and shared three life insights with the students: first, you must have ideals, especially ideals that go beyond financial returns, and enjoy the process of realizing your ideals; second, you must be brave to explore, not afraid of failure, and be an idealist with action; third, you must persist and be tenacious. He urged the students to love life, maintain a positive and optimistic attitude towards life, find passion in life, and reap wonderful harvests.

Li Huan delivered a speech

Li Huan, associate professor of the Institute of Environment and Ecology, spoke as a representative of the faculty. He said that the imprint of Tsinghua will become a source of strength for everyone. After leaving the campus, the students will shoulder more expectations, undertake more missions, and face more stringent evaluations. Only by being fearless can they soar into the sky. Li Huan urged the students to “hold on to the green mountains and never let go”, always pursue the essence of things in a complex environment, be firm in their own direction, and not be afraid of external interference. I hope that everyone will not forget their original aspirations, keep their mission in mind, accumulate small steps to achieve a thousand miles, keep in mind the earnest instructions of their alma mater, and strive to work for the health of the motherland for at least 50 years.
