TU Delft: TU Delft in 21st position in THE Engineering & Technology rankings
For the fourth time in a row, TU Delft ranks 21st in the Engineering & Technology rankings of the Times Higher Education Subject Rankings 2023 published today, 25 October. This is the most relevant category for a university of technology like TU Delft.
The 19th place in Arts & Humanities is also notable. THE includes the following subject areas under Arts & Humanities: art, performing arts, design, languages, literature, linguistics, history, philosophy, theology, architecture and archaeology. TU Delft also achieved top positions in the more specific architecture (2) and arts & design (13) subject areas in the QS Subject Ranking.
Competition in the rankings has become increasingly fierce in recent years given the rise of universities in Southeast Asia and the huge investments in education and science in other Western countries; mostly private in the US, but also public in Europe.
THE Subject Rankings
The THE rankings are one of the leading university rankings in the world. Each of these lists has different characteristics and uses just a different composition of indicators. Every year, THE releases separate Subject Rankings in addition to the World University Ranking. Such rankings are especially important for universities to attract international talent, as they are widely consulted by international students and scholars.
Methodology
The subject rankings are compiled of the same 13 indicators as the THE World University ranking that is grouped into the key areas of Teaching, Research, Citations, International outlook and Industry income. Weighting of the indicators has been adjusted to match the specific subject areas.
