Two-day awareness programme on Disaster Management concludes at Bandipora

Bandipora: The two-day awareness programme on Disaster management organised by District Administration Bandipora for the employees of the district concluded at Mini Secretariat here on Tuesday.

The programme was organised on the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad who is also the Chairperson of District Disaster Management Authority.

The programme was attended by employees of all the departments stationed at Mini-Secretariat Bandipora including officials of Department of Health, Revenue, Social Welfare and Education etc.

During the programme, experts of SDRF imparted training to the employees regarding first aid, fire fighting, rescue techniques and the immediate response to any disaster besides other techniques.

Experts said the aim of the exercise was to build a culture of disaster preparedness and resilience among employees. He said the training will allow employees not only to save themselves but will also act as first responders at the time of any disaster.

Officers said the two days training will help the employees to handle emergency cases during any disaster including fire incident, earthquake and floods etc which are common in Kashmir valley.

The DC appreciated the efforts of trainers and the audience alike in utilizing the time to learn basically about immediate response to any natural or manmade disasters. He hoped that the employees will be better prepared to deal with disasters so that they become first responders and help in saving lives of themselves and other people around.
