Two day Swarnim Vijay Workshop For Specially Abled concluded at AGS, Margund

 

GANDERBAL: Two day Swarnim Vijay Workshop For Specially Abled today concluded at Army Goodwill School (AGH) Margund, organized by Wussan Battalion, 3 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, CIF (Kilo Force) for children/adults with special needs/ Muscular Dystrophy to commemorate the victory of Indian Armed Forces in 1971 War.

The workshop was conducted by Mrs. Nishtha Thaker, (herself suffering from genetic disorder) National Award Winner and Motivational Speaker. She also conducted Communication and life skill training sessions during the workshop.

Over a course of two days of conduct of the workshop, various types of assessments to ascertain the level of disability of an individual was conducted by various specialists like Physiotherapist, Gynecologist, Ophthalmologist, Audiologist, Prosthetics & Orthotics. Subsequently, sessions by these specialists were conducted, which helped the specially abled to understand and deal with their day to day problems in an efficient manner.

Rifle Women of the Wussan Battalion and the NCC boys and girls of the Army Goodwill School made their share of the contribution, which resulted in the successful conduct of the event.

The workshop was attended by approx. 83 specially abled with full zeal and fervor over a period of two days.

In the end, Chief Guest Brigadier Maheshwar Singh, Commander 3 Sector, felicitated the Specially Abled with Assistive Devices. He also honoured Mrs Nishtha Thaker, the team of doctors and NGOs like Hope Disability and Awaaz aur Ehsaas for their valuable contributions for making the workshop successful.

A total of 15 Wheel Chairs, 06 Axillary crutches, 01 elbow crutch, 05 walking sticks, one MSIED kits, one Smart Cane, and 13 Hearing Aids were distributed to the specially abled people.
