Two SPJIMR-authored cases feature in Ivey Publishing’s World List of Top 25 cases for 2023-2024

 

Chennai: Two case studies authored by SPJIMR faculty were honoured with the prestigious Ivey Publishing Bestseller Awards 2023-2024. Ranked based on all usage, the Ivey Publishing Bestseller Awards for 2023-2024 highlight the top 25 cases from May 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024.

The new bestselling cases feature diverse themes such as global expansions, acquisitions, governance and ethics, sustainability, digital transformation, and innovation. This year’s awards celebrate 25 exceptional cases, recognising the authors whose work has helped numerous educators effectively meet their learning objectives and engage future business leaders in dynamic discussions, contributing to their popularity and success.

Microsoft Acquires Activision Blizzard: Beating Sony in Gaming and the Metaverse, a Strategy case by Prof. Rajiv Agarwal, Professor and Department Chair, Strategy, ranked second this year. His case looks into the reasons why Microsoft pursued the acquisition of Activision and explores the competitive position of the gaming industry, specifically, Microsoft’s competition with Sony.

“I am truly honoured that my faculty peers believe that my case can make a meaningful impact and influence participants in business schools worldwide,” he said. “This case was written keeping in mind the need to bring contemporary topics into our classrooms for meaningful discussions on challenges which managers face globally today.”

 

Balaji Wafers: Taking the Pepsi Challenge by Prof. Rajiv Agarwal and Prof. Ashita Aggarwal, Professor, Marketing, and Chairperson, Post Graduate Diploma in Management and Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Business Management, ranked 14. The case highlighted the challenges Indian brands face with the influx of foreign competitors. The Balaji Wafers case explains how an Indian firm defended its market position and profits against well-funded international companies.
