UC: Bazart UC returns with an exclusive call for illustrators

It is not just any drawing, understood as someone who arrives, grabs a pencil, and draws a quick image in his notebook. No. Illustration has had a rapid development in recent decades, rising to expressions with more adult themes, along with techniques and supports that have taken this discipline to new levels within the visual arts. That is why this UC 2023 Bazart wanted to focus solely on this trend, and its call is open to artists who work illustration in various formats.

“Bazart UC is a contemporary visual arts fair, and that is why we look for artistic expressions that speak to us about this era. Since we started in 2011, we have seen how illustration has grown among the disciplines that we exhibit here. Every year, more and more illustrator applicants arrived, which is why we wanted to open this art showcase to these creators and give them a leading role for the 2023 call” , says Daniela Rosenfeld, director of UC Cultural Extension.

The application time is scheduled until 23:59 hrs. on Sunday, July 16, 2023 , with the goal of later selecting about 40 artists among those who want to show their work and exhibit their works at the East Extension Center, the place where this UC 2023 Bazart will take place. The fair will take place on August 25, 26 and 27 of this year , in collaboration with DUOC UC, and contemplating 42 stands of 2 x 2 x 2 meters, to which you can apply individually (1 artist per stand) or shared (2 artists per booth maximum).

This event where Illustration will have a unique platform within Chile will receive applications from Chilean artists, or foreigners residing in the country, whose works are categorized as illustrations. This medium will be understood as expanded illustration, and may be presented in different supports or techniques, whether traditional or experimental. Applicants may have professional training or be self-taught, and the works must be original by the artist.

During Bazart UC 2023, the fair’s hours will be uninterrupted between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Last year, this meeting point between artists and their public brought together some 2,000 people, creating a sales market of about 10 million pesos between works of various formats.
