UC: PUCV university community will meet to analyze the new constitutional process
The rector Ignacio Sánchez and the pro-rector of the U.de Chile, Alejandra Mizala, will participate in the seminar that will be held by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso on Tuesday, June 20, on the constitutional process from an interdisciplinary perspective.
Within the framework of the new constitutional process that is taking place in our country, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaís will carry out a series of activities with the aim of bringing this new milestone in the history of Chile closer to the community not only in the region, but also across the country.
To the reception of proposals from citizens in the context of Public Hearings, one of the four participation mechanisms defined in this constitutional process and coordinated by the respective secretariat, is added the seminar called “Analyzing the Constitutional Process from an interdisciplinary perspective in the PUCV”.
The activity, which will take place on June 20 at 4:30 p.m. in the V Centenario Auditorium on the fourth floor of the PUCV Central House (Av. Brasil 2950, Valparaíso), will be attended by the rector of the Pontificia Universidad Católica from Chile, Ignacio Sánchez and the dean of the University of Chile, Alejandra Mizala.
“What we will carry out on this occasion is an analysis that considers the current debates, but in light of the history of our country; contemplating some milestones, relevant processes that have been observed at other times and that serve as background to give greater density to the current discussion”- Raúl Burgos, executive director of the PUCV Observatory of History and Politics.
The seminar, open to the entire university community, will have a discussion format and various academics from the House of Studies will participate, including Manuel Núñez, academic from the School of Law; Raúl Burgos, executive director of the Observatory of History and Politics; Adela Bork, director of the Master’s in Social Work and Jorge Negrete, professor at the Institute of Geography. In the instance, through the exchange of ideas of the exhibitors, the current constituent process will be addressed from a multidisciplinary perspective.
Professor Raúl Burgos assessed the activity and its possibilities. “I am participating in this seminar to offer a reflection from the point of view of history. What we will carry out on this occasion is an analysis that considers the current debates, but in light of the history of our country; contemplating some milestones, relevant processes that have been observed at other times and that serve as background to give greater density to the current discussion ”, he pointed out.

For his part, David Contreras, PUCV’s General Director of Links with the Environment , indicated that “for us, the PUCV is of the utmost importance to be able not only to disseminate this type of activity, but also to promote and organize them. The relevance of this type of meeting occurs because our University is an active part of the territory, it allows us to offer a showcase from different perspectives and disciplines that enrich the current constituent process”.
In order to enhance the atmosphere of academic reflection of the discussion, the event will continue with a Gala Concert that will have the special participation of the Polish pianist Jakub Kuszlik , in the Centennial Hall of the Central House, at 6:30 p.m.
