UC’s San Alberto Works commemorates 20 years of public service

This is a voluntary initiative carried out by students from the Faculty of Law, who build permanent homes for those who need it. The latest edition of these conferences is taking place in Santa Cruz, in the Libertador Bernardo O`Higgins Region.

Professors, alumni and students of the Faculty of Law met on Tuesday, June 13, at the Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in Providencia, to participate in a special meeting.

That day commemorated 20 years of the San Alberto Works , a voluntary initiative carried out by UC Law students and whose objective is to help families in need by building permanent homes.

The works, which are traditionally carried out in winter, have covered different regions of Chile. And it is a mission inspired by San Alberto Hurtado, patron and former student of the faculty.

During the celebration, which was open to all teachers, volunteers and ex-volunteers, various activities were carried out, such as a mass, a bingo game and auctions, which kept the attendees animated, who were also able to observe memories of all the editions of the Works San Alberto. In addition, thanks to all who have made this work possible.

The dean of UC Law, Gabriel Bocksang, along with the vice dean, Carmen Elena Domínguez, also participated in the commemoration.

The current days of these works will be carried out until July 28, when 11 homes will be built in the commune of Santa Cruz, in the Libertador Bernardo O`Higgins Region.
