Udhampur admin celebrates Iconic Week Festival at Mansar; Event witnesses mosaic of cultural activities

 

UDHAMPUR : As part of the celebration of Iconic week festival being held under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav (Saadi Birasat) Directorate of Tourism Jammu, in collaboration with District Administration Udhampur and Mansar Development Authority organised a series of events here at fames Surinsar and Mansar Lakes.

Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

A series of sports and cultural events were held during the day long event. Youth talent hunt, Live youth band and a musical evening featuring famous Dogri Folk songs ‘Khand mithay log dogray” & “Thanda paani peendey paharaen de Log” sung by famous singers were centre of attraction of the Iconic festival

Earlier, Mountain Terrain Bike Rally was flagged off at Surinsar by CEO Surinsar- Mansar Development Authority, Dr Gurvinderjeet Singh in presence of officers of Tourism and other departments.

Dogri Cuisine stalls were also put up by the Tourism Department and locals were another special attraction of the programme. Enthralling cultural and musical performances by popular artists and famous singers of Jammu Division were highly appreciated by the audiences with repeated rounds of applause.

Group and solo song competition for Students & local artists was another highlight of the event which left the audience spellbound.

Briefing the media persons, the DC said that the main objective of celebration of the Iconic week is to attract major tourist footfall to the area. She added that the Mansar and Surinsar are two most prominent tourist destinations near the city of temples Jammu having historic pilgrimage as well heritage sites located amid rich flora and fauna. She added that the Iconic week celebration festival, a unique initiative by UT J&K, aims to promote the tourism potential of the places which offers a blend of leisure, adventure and religious tourism.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur distributed mementoes among the participants.
