Ugam empowers underprivileged children in India through quality education

Mumbai : Ugam, a leading analytics and technology services company, and part of Merkle collaborated with 321 Education Foundation to run a volunteer-led program called ‘Curate to Educate’. Through this program, Ugam curated e-learning material that will be accessible to thousands of underprivileged children across India.
While India has made great strides in improving access to education, quality education for underprivileged children is yet to be achieved. Moreover, the shift to online classes due to COVID- 19 has further disrupted the learning experience. Most low-income families own a single mobile device that runs on limited internet data. This increases the need to curate optimized e-learning material to enable high quality teaching and learning for teachers and students, respectively.
Through the ‘Curate to Educate’ program, several Ugamites volunteer their time to curate quality Math and English e-learning materials, worksheets and quality assessments for children from grades one to five. This material will be added to 321’s user-friendly app, called CAPE, and will be accessible to thousands of underprivileged children across India.
Sunil Mirani, Co-Founder and CEO of Ugam, said, “Ugam is committed towards driving impact for areas that are foundational to society, such as primary education. Poor quality education often leads to dropouts among underprivileged children, thus widening the foundational learning gap. At Ugam, we consider it our duty to help sustain quality education and promote better learning outcomes among those who need it most. I am proud and inspired by the many Ugamites who willingly dedicate their time and efforts towards driving genuine impact in the field of education.”
Gayatri RP, CEO of 321 Education Foundation, said, “Ugam has ceaselessly supported the educational empowerment of underprivileged children, even throughout the pandemic. The enthusiasm and dedication from Ugam for the cause is rare. We at 321 cherish this partnership and are deeply thankful.”
Prior to the pandemic, Ugam has supported 321 Education Foundation on various initiatives. Since 2017, Ugam has been working with 321 Education Foundation in collecting and managing large quantities of data, along with brainstorming the best ways for 321 to share impactful insights with its shareholders. Apart from funds allocated, Ugamites contribute by volunteering in teaching activities and applying their expertise in analytics and technology.
