Capability building involves radically altering how the work is accomplished and goes much beyond the typical training of people. Additionally, it’s one of the most effective methods to inspire everyone—from the CEO to the shop floor. Without that energy, it becomes extremely difficult to accomplish and maintain a successful workflow. Emphasising the same, Joydeep Roy pointed out that through efficient capability building, businesses can embed an execution engine for ongoing value creation and cultivate the mindsets and behaviours necessary to deliver revolutionary results. Building capabilities alter how people approach their work. It reconstructs the workplace by breaking it down to its bare essentials and establishing new routines. Simultaneously, Harsh Kumar pointed out that building employees’ capabilities is a great way to get them ready for the unexpected future. The capabilities approach goes further than competency mapping, which is nevertheless crucial. Employees can efficiently carry out their current tasks while preparing for issues they’ll face in the future when the emphasis is on capability building. A change in thinking is required to go from a competency model to a capability-building one. For employees to successfully create, innovate, lead and manage change as future leaders, the upskilling programmes must focus on developing their new skills and competencies.

Colin Mendes was quick to point out that the state of employee engagement is evolving. Digital technology-based disruption has been spectacular and unheard of over the past five years. The moment has come to review and revamp the employee experience plan. Delivering a great employee experience involves many stakeholders, including the recruiter, manager, company leader and intangible stakeholders in procedures, rules and technology. It’s time to get these parties together and create an employee development plan to address the demands of the modern workplace.

“The goal of capability building at work is to increase employees’ knowledge and skill sets in accordance with their existing skills, job roles, and long-term business objectives through initiatives for employee learning and development in addition to various other means. The eventual goal is to create an all-encompassing learning culture that includes all divisions and functions while maintaining capability development at the forefront. To accomplish this, organisations need an integrated platform for capability-building that will polish their employees’ functional, technical and behavioural abilities and bring out the leader in them. Organisations are going beyond the traditional LMS and embracing Learning Experience Platforms — with new features such as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) integrations, open content from the web, on-demand learning, and AI content recommendations. The impact of this change offers a wealth of opportunities to unlock new values, develop new approaches to increase impact, and encourage employees to continuously acquire skills, broaden their horizons, and achieve better business outcomes,” said Mr Vicky Jain, Founder and CEO of uKnowva.
