Ultra high Density Apple plantation Drive kick started at Kishtwar

 

Kishtwar: Ultra high Density Apple plantation Drive was kick started in Kishtwar along with UT wide drive launched Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha from Baramullah Kashmir’

The drive was organised here at Odhail Chatroo area of the district under the supervision of Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik.

Block Development Council Chairperson Rubina Begum, SDM Chatroo Inderjeet Singh Parihar, Chief Horticulture Officer Kishtwar Mushtaq Ahmed Wani besides orchardists of the area were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC said that due to the increasing pressure on land and reduction in average land holdings, shifting from low-density planting systems to high-density planting systems has become the need of the hour, especially in horticulture sector.

He added that Trees in high density are more precocious, heavy yielders and produce better quality fruits and can play a significant role in improving the apple economy of Kishtwar.

It is pertinent to mention that here that district administration Kishtwar under the supervision of by Deputy Commissioner Ashok Sharma and in collaboration with Horticulture Department is mulling to increase the horticulture potential of the district by motivating the orchardists to shift to the plantation of the ultra high density Apples.

Meanwhile ADDC Kishtwar also inspected the Model Horticulture Nursery at Dambar Chatroo and took stock of the different varieties of Orchard grown in this nursery.
